- Pacaya-Samiria National Resrve
It is located in the headwaters of the Amazon River in northeastern Peru, on an alluvial plain between the Marañon and Ucayali river systems. - Pampa Galeras National Reserve
This is a stronghold of the Vicuna. The habitat is mostly Puna grasslands.

A complete network of interconnecting roads linked Cusco to its provinces and other kingdoms and the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu was part of that system.
